This class takes place over six weeks, once a week, for a total of 6 sessions, 4:30pm - 6:00pm ET.
Description: In this course, students will be introduced to many necessary concepts necessary for a firm grasp of the fundamental principles of drawing such as basic shapes, proportions, forshortening and more. The course will be constituted by a combination of lecture and demonstration by the instructor and periods of drawing by the students.

Basic Drawing II - SUMMER II Mondays, July 6 - August 10

Basic Drawing II - Expanded and intensive study in the principles of drawing for comic books and illustration with further development of techniques and styles. Assignments will focus on both imaginative drawing and use of reference photos. Explorations in various B&W media such as ink, marker, charcoal and pastels will be utilized in this study.

Digital Lettering - SUMMER II Saturdays, July 11 - August 15 with Taylor Esposito

Instructor: TAYLOR ESPOSITO
This class takes place over six weeks, once a week, for a total of 6 sessions 10:00am - 11:30am ET.
Digital Lettering - Students are instructed in the digital techniques of lettering while learning the fundamentals with the use of Adobe Illustrator. Word balloons, captions, sound effects (SFX) and title lettering are covered.
Programs Required: Illustrator
Taylor Esposito is a freelance letterer for numerous publishers (DC Comics, Dynamite, and Legendary). He is also a former staff letterer for DC and production artist/digital compositor for Marvel Entertainment. He operates his own graphic design business specializing in logo design, lettering, and comic book production. Taylor is instructing our Lettering and Digital Production classes.

Narrative Art I - Summer II Mondays, July 6 - August 10

This class takes place over six weeks, once a week, for a total of 6 sessions. 6:00pm - 7:30pm ET.
Students are instructed in the essentials of sequential storytelling for comic books, graphic novels, comic strips, webcomix and storyboards. The basics of page layout and composition are matched with expanding the student's understanding of drama and action for maximum narrative effect!

Sergio Cariello (born April 23, 1964 in Recife, Brazil) is a Brazilian-American comic book artist.
He has done work for many major comic publishers through his career, including Marvel Comics and DC Comics, as well as popular independent companies like CrossGen Comics and Dynamite Entertainment.

Narrative Art II - SUMMER II Wednesdays, July 8 - August 12 with Tom Mandrake; CLOSED

INSTRUCTOR: TOM MANDRAKE
This class takes place over six weeks, once a week, 6:00 PM - 7:30PM ET for a total of 6 sessions. 
Students hone their drawing and storytelling skills in this class, which focuses on producing art for comic books and graphic novels. Traditional visual communication techniques will be reinforced with further exercises in sequential storytelling. Body language, facial expressions, dramatic lighting, camera angles, lettering, B&W rendering techniques are just a fraction of the tools at the disposal of the narrative artist.  CLOSED
